Blogger entry:

So. I’ve decided that I really like writing things on my laptop at night, in the dark, with nothing but me and my thoughts to entertain me… well, and David Bowie singing to me. Lol. But really, the reason why I’m writing this now and posting later is because I have no time to actually write this on blogger at school and stuff and of course I can’t write it at home because I pretty much have no time or privilege to. Anyway, in this entry I’m going to analyze the song, the great song, As the World Falls Down. Well, when I say analyze I mean explain what I’ve been thinking lately about it. And what brought all of this about was that I’ve been listening to my Labyrinth soundtrack that Ruth gave me for my birthday last year a lot recently (as in, the last two days) and I really listened to the chorus of As the World Falls Down and I came to a revelation when Jareth sings the words:
As the pain sweeps through
Makes no sense for you
Every thrill he's caused
Wasn't too much fun at all
But I'll be there for you-oo-oo
As the world falls down

Okay so “as the pain sweeps through makes no sense for you”. That could be talking about I don’t know what but the next couple of lines really hit me all of a sudden. “Every thrill he’s caused wasn’t too much fun at all, but I’ll be there for you as the world falls down.” So all of the events (i.e. the cleaners, the oubliette, the reordering of time), it’s all a thrill to the Goblin King but it’s not fun to her, obviously. So what I think now is that the guy who has been doing all of these “thrills” is the Goblin King and the guy who is in the dream and who is singing these words to Sarah and who offers her her dreams later and all of the fear me love me stuff is Jareth. Yes, Jareth and the Goblin King are the same people, however, what if he’s bound by the rules to be the fearsome Goblin King during the game but his true self, Jareth, the one that loves Sarah, pokes its way through to the surface every once in a while. When it gets the chance that is. I mean, I’m not trying to make it sound that Jareth and the Goblin King are actually two different people but that the Goblin King is something that Jareth has to be, like he’s cursed or something and Jareth is what he wants to be or was before he was cursed and he hates being mean and everything but he has to be. And so it was the Goblin King who sent Hoggle the peach to give to Sarah but it was Jareth who sent the Ballroom dream so that he and Sarah could have some “alone time” except she doesn’t know that there’s the Goblin King and then the vulnerable Jareth who only wants a queen to rule at his side… and so he’s saying Every thrill the Goblin King has caused wasn’t too much fun at all but me, Jareth will be there for you… as the world falls down. To try and let Sarah know what’s going on and to try and get her to understand that he loves her. Unfortunately, she’s so focused on her goal that she doesn’t really see it, all the way through the end and she proves that by saying the final words. “You have no powere over me” which isn’t really true except she has no idea about that and Jareth is just going to bid his time until she is old enough to understand. Because that’s the whole problem with that picture, she’s too young and she needs to grow up, but the Labyrinth is what’s going to teach her how to grow up….wow, do I smell a fanfic in the making? Whatever, it’s a fanfic in my head. Now I’m just babbling anyway. I’ll just let you guys retaliate to this. Yeah, also, I know that you guys might already have thought of this and are like, well duh, took you long enough to figure out, but it was so weird that this theory just sort of popped into my head when I was driving and listening to my song and my next thought after that was “I gotta write this on my blog so Alex and Ruth can see.” If you guys are just like, who cares, that’s fine, but I wanted to get this off my chest and see what you guys thought. And yes, I know that there might be and probably are many holes in my theory but we can talk and embellish on them later. It will be wonderful blog talk like Ruth and mine’s Snape/Hermione theory.

Okay folks, that’s all for now, this is a one page (on Microsoft word) entry and I think that’s enough for now. Cheerio!

Edit 5 minutes after I finished the first time: So I read through it to see if it made sense and ended up adding another paragraph so this is about a page and a half on a word document. You know, just cause I thought you guys needed to know that.

I thought this was really interesting. I had never considered it but it makes a lot of sense, everything matches up, it's quite fascinating! And aw, what a romantic (in a creepy goblin sort of way) idea.
